• Good members of the Media and People of the Solomon Islands.
• Thank you once again for your time for coming this morning for press update no. 3
• Today is 3 days into the counting of votes after the poll
• There are no major operational and or administrative issues reported with most have been resolved.
• Again, there was calmness and peace experienced at counting centers across the country, for that, the Commission is grateful
• So far, counting though is slow, but steadily progressing very well across the country.
• I would like to state that – While we all look forward to receiving final results early, this must NOT be done at the expense of transparency, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Counting officials are often reminded that they are not in a race.

• Counting continues today and we are expecting more results they are complete and will be coming on with the live announcements of the
results at about 10 am, 3 pm, and 10 pm.

• We are very thankful to our national broadcaster, SIBC and to all members of the media for continuing to support the work of the commission
in making this Joint Election informative and accessible.
General Progress Update Counts
Nationally, as of last night, with the Parliamentary constituencies, there have been 13 declarations. We are yet to receive the official results for two of these constituencies.
Elected candidates have been declared for all the four (4) constituencies in Makira–Ulawa, and all the 3
in Choiseul Others are:
– Malaita – 1 declaration
– Western – 3 declarations with 1 yet to be received officially.
Nationally as of Thursday 18th April, around 24% of the total results were obtained for both the provincial assemblies and parliamentary seats . That was on Thursday, I emphasise that the Count Is Not A Race. This is also a message to all voters and the good people of Solomon Islands and to all count officials. Accuracy is Critical. We are beginning to obtain a surge of official results and we will update as soon as we can. Please visit too our website (www.siec.gov.sb)
